It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
